Medicine encompasses cultural/social science as well as natural science. It is well known that life style and inter-relationships with other people can induce diseases and affect prognosis. Therefore, how physicians interact with patients and their family is important. Consequently, medical students need to learn good communication skills and good "people skills". They also need to reflect on ethics, such as the rights or wrongs on cloning, since it shapes medical science. Cultural and social courses hence have an important place in medical education.
