The Center for International Exchange (CIE) contributes to internationalization
in education, research and healthcare service in accordance with policies
instituted by the Committee on International Exchange.
CIE faculty members provide a proofreading and speech recording service for KMU faculty and staff in support of research activities. To use this service, please fill out an application form available from the following page (KMU intranet only) and send to CIE by E-mail.
Classes are open to faculty, staff, and students of KMU at a reduced fee. Instructors are from the KMU English Department.
Currently there are 3 levels available:
Beginner (Thursdays 5:30-6:45)
This class is for beginners and reintroduces basic listening and speaking.
The goal is to get you used to using English again
Intermediate (Wednesdays 5:30-6:45)
This class is for low-intermediate students and builds general language
skills using a 3 skills textbook. Reading, listening and emphasis on speaking.
Advanced (Thursdays 5:30-6:45)
This class is an on-going topic-based discussion class. Students are encouraged
to share opinions. Instructor and students will provide material.
Late Advanced (Thursdays 7:00-8:15)
Same as the above
Each Session consists of 10 lessons.
CIE provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to take the
TOEFL-ITP test at KMU once a year.
To support KMU faculty and staff in presenting and publishing their research activities, CIE organizes an educational lecture and workshop once a year.
International researchers and graduate students have the opportunity to
meet one Friday a month from 17:30 to 18:30 to enjoy a cup of tea while
casually discussing in English a variety of topics.
Staff and students also welcome.
